Kennedi Vontur and her family asked for one thing from her guests for her 4th birthday party...no, not birthday gifts, only
donations to Pearland’s Pet Hub Animal Rescue (PHAR).

Although Pearland was rated by Forbes magazine as one of the fastest growing cities, one important characteristic stays
the same, small town values with commitment to community.

Last Saturday morning at Petco was where 4 year old Kennedi and her family, City Council Candidate Tammy Dexter
who is also the director of PHAR and City Council Member Kevin Cole all gathered.

Jill Vontur, Kennedi's mother said "We've had pets all our life, we try to help out where we can, this is the second year
we've collected donations for a rescue group."

Pictures were taken while the Vontur family handed the donation check to Councilmember Cole, Pet Hub Rescues
honorary member. Mr. Cole and Kennedi posed for additional pictures while holding “Bastian”, one of the rescue kittens.

Cole, a 2011 mayoral candidate can usually be found participating in such community events and is also a pet lover
himself. Mrs. Dexter presented Councilmember Cole with a trophy in appreciation of his help with the rescue.

"We already have another donation birthday planned by another resident and her 10 year old daughter! We are hoping
this is the start of a trend." Mrs. Dexter beamed.  “March 27th, we will have a booth at the Paws in the Park event.  It will
be the first of many events!” Dexter added.

Kennedi collected a couple hundred dollars in cash donations along with much needed food and supply donations.
100% of the money donated will go to veterinary costs which include spay/neuter, vaccines and food.  Pet Hub Animal
Rescue relies solely on donations from the public.  The generosity shown by the Vontur family and others donating to
the rescue helps Pet Hub Animal Rescue save the lives of animals and find them "forever homes" with families.

We hope that the generosity and selflessness showed by Kennedi and her family for the rescue, inspires and
encourages others to want to get involved and make a difference in their community.
